Launched in 2018 and updated in 2023, Brazil’s Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture (UPA) Program is a unique national initiative that integrates multiple ministries and stakeholders to promote resilient, sustainable food systems. The program ensures access to healthy food, aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and actively engages municipal and state governments, farmers, and civil society organizations.
This webinar will present the evolution, policy framework, and local implementation of the program, highlighting how Brazil fosters cooperation and strengthens initiatives that benefit urban farmers and communities.
